Stands at DARLEY, NSW, for $55,000
Europe’s Champion 2YO Colt in 2019, Pinatubo won all his six starts as a juvenile, including both the National Stakes-Gr1 and the Dewhurst Stakes-Gr1. Back at three, he won the Prix Jean Prat-Gr1, as well as running into Champion 3YO Palace Pier in the Royal Ascot St James’s Palace Stakes-Gr1 over a mile. Pinatubo’s four starts at three were all in Gr1 company and he won or placed in all of them. His efforts at three were rewarded with the Champion 3YO Sprinter in France title to add to his impressive 2YO collection.
Pinatubo’s three Gr1 wins put him among the best of Shamardal’s progeny, which takes some doing when Shamardal has sired 160 stakes winners including Gr1 winners like Hong Kong Horse of the Year Able Friend, Champion Sprinter Blue Point, Champion 2YO Colt Earthlight, Champion 3YO Filly Faint Perfume, Champion Hong Kong Stayer Pakistan Star, and Champion 3YO Lope de Vega. Lope de Vega leads Shamardal’s sire sons with 92 stakes winners of his own, while several emerging sires look promising too.

Breeders who love stallion making families will love Pinatubo as he is closely related to Invincible Spirit (sire of I Am Invincible). Pinatubo’s dam, Lava Flow, is a stakes winner in France, and all four of her runners to date are winners. His second dam is also a stakes winner. As well as Invincible Spirit, this pedigree boasts Champion 3YO in Europe, Mishriff, as well as Australian Gr1 winner Pride of Dubai.
A speedy unbeaten two year-old, Pinatubo held his form at three, and he has a pedigree that has worked in Australian conditions.
