Ranked the World’s Best Sprinter and Europe’s Champion 3YO Sprinter in 2017, Harry Angel won both the July Cup-G1 and the Haydock Sprint-G1 (also won by Danehill). In the season prior, as a two year-old, Harry Angel won the Mill Reef Stakes-G2 and he raced on as a four year-old where he was a G2 winner and G1 placed. His sire Dark Angel (Acclamation) produces G1 sprinters such as Battaash, Harry Angel, Champion Older Male Sprinter Lethal Force, and Champion Older Sprinting Mare Mecca’s Angel all among his nine G1 winners. Dual G1 winning sprinter Fine Needle is a typical tough Japanese horse, bred for soundness, and excelling with plenty of speed. He was a winner at two over 1400m, before winning twice at three. At four, he improved again to win three races including the Sankei Sho-G2 Centaur Stakes over 1200m, and it was at five that he really showed his best, winning four of his six starts that season including the Takamatsunomiya Kinen/Nakayama Sprinters Stakes-G1 double, just like top sire Lord Kanaloa (sire of Almond Eye and Tagaloa). Fine Needle was awarded the Champion Sprinter/Miler for Japan in 2018 and ended his career with ten wins.
