Marc and Sarah Devcich have built an enviable reputation for their horsemanship and the quality yearlings they present each year both in their homeland New Zealand and at the major Australian sales.

They have an obvious passion for the industry and their small select drafts are on every serious buyer’s “must inspect” list.

Over recent years they have enjoyed success in Australia with what is always a hand picked offering of yearlings that particularly suit each sale. Inglis Easter 2020 is a typical case in point with their offering
of two spectacularly bred colts, both first foals with early birth dates. That’s a great start but there’s better to come.

Their first colt into the ring will be LOT 77 a bay colt by five times champion NZ sire Savabeel out of an O’Reilly mare who is a half-sister to two champions, which were among the best NZ gallopers of recent years, Sir Slick (22 wins, 5 Gr.1s, Champion Middle Distance Horse in NZ) and Puccini (8 wins, 2 Gr.1s, Champion 3YO in NZ).

This colt is bred on the very successful Savabeel/O’Reilly nick which has 11% SW to runners from a big representation of 96 runners, which significantly includes Gr.1 winners such as the NZ 2000 Guineas winning colt Embellish and Costume, Diademe, Savaria etc.

Their second offering will be LOT 497 a bay colt by rising star sire Dundeel, who was a regular visitor to Henley Park when spelling during his racing days, out of a mare by the great Choisir who is closely related top NZ Horse Of The Year, another frequent speller at Henley Park. And what a cross this is! Dundeel has already produced two Gr.1 winners out of mares by sons of Danehill, his superstar Super Seth and South African Gr.1 winner Atyaab.

What more could you ask for, Group One Sires, Group One families, two colts prepared by highly regarded horse people, it’s a recipe for success. But Marc and Sarah are never ones to take things for granted, “We try to bring good individuals that are suited to each sale, and I feel these two colts will live up to buyers’ expectations, when they inspect them, and hopefully afterwards when they embark on their racing careers” said Marc of this year’s Easter draft. ©
