Kingstar Farm’s rapid rise in the breeding game is reflected in their current crop of yearlings, led by their precocious first season sire Unite and Conquer.
Unite and Conquer was first seen at the races as an October two year-old winning the Listed Maribyrnong Trial Stakes on debut, a win that he followed up with an impressive win in the Listed Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic over 1100m, beating Exhilarates.
The boom juvenile broke down in the Listed Magic Millions 2YO Classic, won by Exhilarates, and that ended his short career. The only good news out of that race was the Unite and Conquer became available to breeders at a great value price, and now his first crop yearlings are ready to take the market by storm.
“We are so excited to present the first crop of Unite and Conquer who we believe is the best value precocious stallion in Australia. Based on his fee and the types he’s producing, Unite and Conquer is going to end the sales season with an incredible profitability for those who’ve bred to him. He wasn’t on the track for a long time before injury, but he made a huge impression, and I don’t need to remind people that lightly raced stallions have a great record at stud. Unite and Conquer is from the Danzig sireline, and Danzig had only three starts with none of them in stakes class, whereas Unite and Conquer only raced in black type class.”
In 2023, Kingstar Farm will present a draft of nineteen yearlings at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale. “This is our biggest Classic draft ever. We’ve recently completed a new yearling area and our drafts for 2023 will be the first ones prepared from this new facility. The rapid expansion of draft sizes reflects how far we’ve come in a short time and Kingstar Farm is now able to handle the sales preparation of forty yearlings at a time. Our first Classic draft was in 2017, when we took four yearlings to the sale (three winners), and from our 2019 draft, we sold Encountabull who was our most expensive sale at the time at $80,000.
He ran second in the Listed Inglis Nursery at only his second start behind future Gr1 winner Wild Ruler.”
Unite and Conquer’s colt, Lot 255, is the first foal of a half-sister to Gr1 winner Rothfire who won six races as a two year-old including the Gr1 JJ Atkins Plate, and then came back from injury to win the 2022 Gr2 Ian McEwen Stakes and placed several times at Gr1 level. The other colt by Unite and Conquer in this draft is Lot 828, out of a More Than Ready mare who is a daughter of Gr1 placed winner of five races Occurrence, from the family of Zoushine.
“Both Adam Cook and myself had a bit to do with Red Ransom (Adam was stallion manager at Vinery for many years) and know that despite only being on the track for a short time, he showed more than enough. He had the pedigree and race record to be a serious stallion, being lightly raced just made him affordable. Similarly, Unite and Conquer was such a raw, untapped talent and had the speed every breeder wants.”
Unite and Conquer filly, Lot 697, is the third foal of four-race winner She Brings (Sebring) whose first foal was placed on debut as a two year-old and has just turned three. This filly’s second dam was a two year-old winner, and third dam Draw Card won the Gr2 Magic Night Stakes.

“All the yearlings in our Classic draft are by first season sires, like our own Unite and Conquer, Brutal, Cosmic Force, Microphone, and Zousain, while the others are by proven Gr1 producing stallions. We’ve had some great Cosmic Force foals on our farm, and the colt we are bringing to Classic has a very internationally appealing pedigree.”
A son of Champion 3YO Stayer and Gr1 New Zealand Oaks winner Bramble Rose, Lot 289, is a Cosmic Force half-brother to Gr2 winner and Gr1 placed Tangled, Listed winner Sebrose, and Listed winner Maules Creek.
Half-brother to group winner Lead to Win, out of Gr1 winner Leading the Way, is Lot 550, a colt by Microphone, and this colt’s pedigree screams precocity on both sides. The two Brutal yearlings are nicely bred, with Lot 543 being a half-brother to Gr3 winner of eight races Artistry, as well as to the dam of Listed winner Flower of War; while Lot 706 is a filly whose winning dam is a full sister to Listed winner of eleven races It Is Written (Written Tycoon). The other yearling by a first season sire in the Kingstar Farm draft is Lot 726, a Zousain colt out of city winner A Saucy Snitzel who won six races and whose first foal has placed twice in his last three starts (at time of printing) in November 2022. This colt’s dam is out of Listed winner Stella Maree.
In the proven brigade, a pair of Extreme Choice colts are bound to catch buyer’s eyes. Lot 174 is out of two year-old stakes winner Tweet, who has left three winners to date; while Lot 166 is out of group placed winner Top Billing (Savabeel) who has also left three winners.
A half-sister to Gr3 South Australia Fillies Classic winner Mimi’s Award is Lot 261, by Gr1 winner and sire Flying Artie. This filly’s second dam is Listed winner and Gr1 fourth placed Strawberry Field, while her third dam is also a stakes winner. A Written Tycoon filly, Lot 26, is a half-sister to stakes placed winner Raging Queen out of stakes placed winner of six races, Royal Bender.
Shamus Award colt, Lot 702, is the second foal of group winner Slice of Class, who comes from the family of Tavistock and Presence.
Two colts and a filly by proven Gr1 sire Deep Field are led by a half-brother, Lot 771, to two year-old Gr3 Widden Stakes winner Amercement, out of group placed winner of four races, Forfeiture. Lot 403 is the first foal of a city winning mare who is closely related to group winner Five to Midnight who won eleven races, while the Deep Field filly, Lot 227, is the second foal of a winning Snitzel mare who is a full sister to Gr2 Pago Pago Stakes winner Time For War.
Zoustar filly, Lot 598, is the third foal of a young mare whose first foal is a winner, and this filly’s dam is a half-sister to group placed winner Valorous from the family of Piccadilly Circus (dam of Fastnet Rock).
A pair of Capitalist yearling fillies round out the Kingstar Farm draft; with Lot 217 being the second foal of a city winning Snitzel daughter of Gr1 winner Clean Sweep, while Lot 609 is out of a Starcraft mare who is a half-sister to group placed winner Slumber Party from the family of Not a Single Doubt.
Kingstar Farm’s rapid expansion is about to pay dividends as the first crop of their boom two year-old Unite and Conquer hit the sales ring, and if they are anything like him, they’ll be winning in a year’s time.
