The Evergreen runners are in full bloom in elite races.
From homebred G1 winner Converge to Easter graduate G3 winner Argentia, Evergreen Stud’s river front pastures continue to produce racehorses of the highest quality in recent seasons. With a small band of high quality broodmares, Evergreen Stud is run by the Bott family who have generations of knowledge and expertise in the horse racing industry.
Converge (Frankel) looks to be an up and coming super star with a G1 win at two and now the Randwick Guineas-G1 at three. Raced by Evergreen Stud, Converge has raced exclusively in black type company, barring his debut run which he won. He now has four wins from eleven starts and over $1.6million.
“We have constantly been proud and had success with our horses off the farm each season, but the last few years seem to be special,” said Evergreen Studs’ Aaron Bott. “Having the likes of G1 winner Converge and group winner Argentia from the same crop is phenomenal which makes offering some relations to these two at Easter very exciting.”
With two siblings to G1 horses, the Evergreen Stud draft of only six yearlings at the 2022 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale is sure to attract plenty of attention.
Bred to run early is Lot 121, a half-brother to Champion 2YO Filly and Golden Slipper-G1 winner She Will Reign, who also won the AJ Moir Stakes-G1 as a three year-old. This Snitzel colt is also a half-brother to Silver Slipper-G2 winner Time To Reign, and a full brother to this season’s promising two year-old Current King who was second on debut recently. Their dam, Courgette (Charge Forward) won twice and is from the family of Slipper Trial Stakes-G2 winner Sunshine Sally. Precocious 2YO speed abounds in this pedigree.

Evergreen Stud’s homebred G1 winner Converge is the first foal of his dam, Conversely (Shamardal), and the farm will offer her third foal, a colt by second season sire Invader (Snitzel) as Lot 116. Converge won the JJ Atkins Stakes-G1 as a two year-old and the Randwick Guineas-G1 at three. Conversely is a daughter of American G3 winner Melhor Ainda (Pulpit), while this colt’s third dam is G1 winner Potrinner, a half-sister to four other G1 winners. Invader has started his stud career well with four winners from his first small crop of two year-olds, and his first foals are only now getting to the same age as Invader was when he won the ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes-G1.

A half-sister to Argentia by boom sire I Am Invincible is Lot 364. With two wins from her four starts, including the Kevin Hayes Stakes-G3 over 1200m, and a last start second in the Angus Armanasco Stakes-G2, Argentia is a star of the future. This yearling filly screams residual value, being a half-sister to two group winners – the other being Champion Griffin in Hong Kong and Premier Cup-G3 winner Thewizardofoz. Their dam, Princess Coup (Encosta de Lago) won four G1 races, and twelve races in total, and was rated NZ’s Champion 3YO Filly, and Champion Older Mare and Champion Stayer. She is a three-quarter sister to G2 winner and G1 placed Sovereign Nation, while this filly’s second dam is Listed winner Stoneyfell Road.

The only other filly in the Evergreen draft is from the same family. By Exceed and Excel, Lot 4 is out of winning mare Vanilla Princess (Lonhro), a half-sister to Argentia, Thewizardofoz, and Lot 364. This filly is a full sister to Key (Exceed and Excel) who won on debut as a three year-old last season, before being G3 placed at just her third start. All of Vanilla Princess’s three foals to race are winners.

Lot 34, a colt by Pierro, is from Abatha (Redoute’s Choice), a young daughter of Princess Coup and this yearling colt is her third foal. Redoute’s Choice currently has twenty-three G1 winners as damsire, and an impressive three of them are by Pierro, making this a top-notch cross. Those three G1 winners on the Pierro/Redoute’s Choice cross are Levendi, Arcadia Queen, and Regal Power, while Action, Dragon Leap, and Furore are G2 winners. Putting this cross together with the strength of the Princess Coup family makes this colt an interesting prospect for buyers.

So You Think’s yearling colt, Lot 260, is the third foal of Letsdothis, a full sister to G3 winner, G1 placed, sire Squamosa (Not a Single Doubt). Not a Single Doubt already has a G1 winner as a damsire (Hong Kong Stewards’ Cup-G1 winner Seasons Bloom), and of course So You Think needs no introduction being a world class racehorse and sire of 38 stakes winners. This colt’s second dam is Listed two year-old winner Class Success who left, not just Squamosa but also group placed winner Flying Success.
