They say you should fish where the fish are, and Kingstar Farm is the farm that sold Gr1 Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside (Extreme Choice). They will offer more of the same in 2023 with three rare yearlings by Extreme Choice in their draft. Extreme Choice needs no introduction as his tiny crops have yielded Gr1 winners Stay Inside and She’s Extreme, as well six other stakes winners (from only 87 named foals to date). There aren’t many of them, but they sure can run!

What is the best horse you have sold through Magic Millions?
Golden Slipper winner, Stay Inside.

Do you still get butterflies as your yearling enters the ring?
Butterflies? Absolutely, yes!

What makes Magic Millions at the Gold Coast such a success?
The timing and location. Magic Millions is more than a great sale, it’s a gathering and celebration of the industry. A great carnival.

When assessing breeding which influences/key horses do you mainly look for?
You have to look at everything, the type, the pedigree and current market trends. When we are buying it is simpler, we just have to find something fast for ourselves but when presenting yearlings to others we have to cater for the level of market at which we are selling and in many cases present a yearling that is able to be rapidly onsold by trainers and syndicators.

What’s the coldest you’ve ever been?
Boxing Day in Kentucky whilst shuttling stallions. It is a big change to our summer!

What songs take you back to your teen years?
Anything by Guns ‘n’ Roses and Nirvana.

Do you prefer fishing or football, details please.
Football – I played a bit and I don’t really enjoy sitting around waiting for a fish not to bite.

Do you play an instrument?
I play a mean Air Guitar.

What’s one thing your dogs could say that would completely ruin your image if they could talk?
Our English Bulldogs are extremely well cared for, so they’d better not say anything too controversial!

What would you do if you sold a yearling for $10 million?
Wake myself up.
