Newhaven Park has 37 yearlings catalogued for the 2023 MM and to highlight just how worthwhile it will be to inspect these babies, you have only to look at the recent Newhaven sale graduates.

Newhaven Park Boorowa has had an exceptional year by even its high standards. Studmaster John Kelly told Bluebloods “Not only did our sale graduate In The Congo win the Gr1 Golden Rose, but our young stallion Xtravagant finished the season as 2nd placed sire in the nation behind Extreme Choice as leading sire of stakes winners to runners, which is a key statistic in our industry”.

In The Congo – Golden Rose 2021

Xtravagant found himself among the sires with 100k and 200k service fees in the SW/R department with 7.27% SW/R an outstanding feat for a young sire with less runners and off a much lower service fee base than those behind him, and as he is by Pentire it would not be unreasonable to expect his stock to do even better with maturity.

“We tried hard to convince breeders to support Xtravagant and those who did were appreciated. It was a struggle in 2021 but we have been swamped this year and he will cover his biggest ever book at his highest fee so there are some nice mares there and he looks to be on his way. We are taking six of his yearlings to the 2023 Magic Millions and they are a cracking bunch.”

“The first into the ring should light up the board as she’s a filly and a full sister to millionaire Inglis Millennium winner Xtravagant Star and to SW He’s Exceptional. From the family of current star 2yo Buenos Noches, this is a filly we can recommend to everybody.”

The other five Xtravagant yearlings are: Lot 431 a full brother to the winner Xtra Gear from the family of Calming, Timeless Prince and War Artist; Lot 934 a full brother to the winner Polly Plum from the exceptional family of Trichelle, Sovereign Red and Gurner’s Lane; Lot 1093 a half-sister to three winners from the family of Blue Diamond winner True Jewels and current rising star Shalstar; Lot 1112 a half-brother to three winners (mare is 3/3) out of SP Greytfilly from the family of Bring Me Roses, Face Value and Diamond Earth and Lot 1218 a filly who is the first foal of a Moonee Valley winning 2yo by Exceed And Excel from The family of unbeaten 2yo Amelia’s Dream.

Newhaven Park has 37 yearlings catalogued for the 2023 MM and to highlight just how worthwhile it will be
to inspect these babies, you have only to look at the recent Newhaven sale graduates. These Include current Gr1 star In The Congo, Gr2 winner Lavish Girl, the stakes winning siblings He’s Exceptional and Xtravagant Star, Gr1 placed Brosnan plus the Gr1 quinella of Odeum and Shout The Bar.

John Kelly continued, “That was yesterday, we’re looking forward to parading them to buyers. We will be offering yearlings by Zoustar, Written By, Exceed And Excel, Spirit Of Boom, So You Think, Trapeze Artist, Capitalist, Blue Point, Lean Mean Machine, Brutal, Microphone, Pride Of Dubai to name a few and there should be a nice yearling to suit buyers in all price ranges among them.”

“A couple of standouts would include: Lot 40 a filly by Royal Meeting who is the first foal of talented SP Lady Of Crebilly from the family of Jade Robbery; Lot 108 the Zoustar half-sister to multiple Gr2 winner Pure Elation (667k); Lot 155 the Capitalist half-sister to Gr1 1000Gns winner Odeum from the family of Gytrash: Lot 594 the Exceed And Excel filly from a multiple winning stakes producing half-sister to Gr1 winner Inspirational Girl and Lot 802 the Blue Point colt out of a multiple winning winner producing close relation of Gr1 winner Super Seth.”

“We’ve had an incredible season at Boorowa, after the devastating drought which lasted for seven years we have now had just about too much rainfall, something I never dreamt of saying, but we are dry land farmers, not tropical gardeners. If you live on the land you have this constant struggle with the climate. But regardless, we’ve put together one of our best ever drafts for the 2023 MM and I look forward to parading them for buyers and to catching up with our clients and old friends.”
