A classic example of linebreeding back to his own family, Victor Ludorum excelled as a Wild Ruler is the archetypical Australian racehorse; early maturing, fast, tough, a winner in multiple seasons, and of course, a Gr1 winning sprinter. Winner on debut as a December two year-old in the Inglis Nursery-L, Wild Ruler was a real speed horse. Back at three, he won his first two runs in the spring, the Heritage Stakes-L, and the Roman Consul Stakes-Gr2, before running third in the Coolmore Stud Stakes-Gr1. With stallions such as Fastnet Rock, Exceed and Excel, Zoustar, and Russian Revolution as previous winners of the Roman Consul Stakes, Wild Ruler marked himself as one to watch. As an autumn three year-old, he won two of his four starts, the Fireball Stakes-L and the Arrowfield 3YO Sprint-Gr2. His Gr1 win came as a spring four-year-old, in the AJ Moir Stakes-Gr1 against a quality sprinting field that included Gr1 winners Trekking, September Run, and Portland Sky.
