There’s a reason that Golden Slipper winning colts are highly sought after as stallions. There aren’t many of them, and those that do retire to stud include the like of Capitalist, Pierro, Sebring, Catbird, Flying Spur, Danzero, Canny Lad, and Rory’s Jester. Stay Inside burst onto the Australian two year-old scene in January with two wins from as many starts. Next up, he ran fourth behind Anamoe in the Todman Stakes-Gr2, before heading to the Golden Slipper.

Stay Inside shot clear with 100m to go and strode home for a dominant win in the Gr1 event with Anamoe running on for second. The form around Anamoe, who won the Gr1 Sires’ Produce at his next start, then won two Guineas and placed in the Cox Plate as a three year-old, really franks the class of Stay Inside’s Golden Slipper.

Foot issues impacted Stay Inside’s return to the track as a three year-old, and he was retired to mitigate any long term risk to him. He retired with three wins from six starts, and earnings over $2.2million.

Stay Inside is from the first small crop of Blue Diamond Stakes-Gr1 winner Extreme Choice, and is one of seven stakes winners for his sire who has less than 80 live foals in his first two crops. Extreme Choice has also left Gr1 winning two year-old She’s Extreme, group winning two year-olds Tiger of Malay and Extreme Warrior and Listed winning two year-old Xtremetime. To have so many gifted juveniles from small crops is the reason Australian breeders are so excited about Extreme Choice and his sons. From a family with plenty of colonial speed, Stay Inside is out of a young winning Anabaa mare, from the family of Gr1 Guineas winner Wonderful World.
