Great opportunities
in Tyreel draft

Opportunities like this one don’t come around often. A half-sister to The Everest winner Classique Legend from a farm with an ever-growing impressive list of graduates. Tyreel Stud’s most recent Inglis Easter drafts have included New Zealand Derby-G1 winner Rocket Spade, G2 winner and boom sprinter Aethero, G2 winner Tiger of Malay, G3 winner Swear, Listed winner Espaaniyah, while this season’s G3 placed two year-old Bohemian Daisy came from last year’s Inglis Classic Yearling Sale draft.

“We’ve been producing and presenting bloodstock from Tyreel Stud for eight years now and we only have a small select number for Easter each year,” said Linda Monds. “This would have to be one of our best physical and pedigreed draft so far and we are so excited to bring them to the market.”

With eleven lots by ten different stallions, there is a wealth of choice in the Tyreel Stud 2022 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale draft.

Tyreel Stud’s Manager, Rob Sims, summarises the elite draft below.

Lot 99
Espaaniyah’s half-brother is a colt by Hellbent, out of stakes placed winner Catalonia (Flying Spur). Hellbent’s oldest foals are two year-olds and he already has two stakes horses including Tyreel Stud’s Bohemian Daisy.

“A powerfully built colt, great strength through his hips, a precocious colt who looks like he will go early from a proven family of two year-old speed.”

Lot 120
Light Fingers Stakes-G2 winner Every Rose (Choisir’s) half-brother by Exceed and Excel is out of winning mare Couredge, who is a half-sister to G2 winner Vintedge and Listed winner Youths Edge. Every Rose won the Gimcrack Stakes-G3 on debut and the combination with Champion Sire Exceed and Excel should produce an early comer.

“A scopey, angular colt who is really developing extremely well throughout his prep. He is by a sire whose influence only seems to be getting stronger.”

Lot 157
First season sire and unbeaten Triple Crown winner Justify has a filly who is the first foal of winning mare Excelsior Island (Exceed and Excel) who is a half-sister to Champion 2YO in NZ and G1 winner Warhorse. This season’s G3 winner Zee Falls (Sacred Falls) as well as G2 winning sprinter California Dane are from this family.

“A neat sharp looking filly who has come to hand quickly. With multiple two year-old influences in her family this could be the early ticket to the Ferrari.”

Lot 165
By Deep Field, this colt is the first foal of winning More Than Ready mare Fashion Icon, who is a half-sister to Listed winning two year-old Espaaniyah. For fans of Formula One, this colt’s pedigree is filled with horses named after car racing themes, including Listed winner Le Mans, G3 winner Detours, Listed winner Brasileira, and G3 winner Jorda.

“A strong, balanced colt, very well built from a great two year-old family. This colt will command the attention of all who inspect him.”

Lot 172
A three-quarter brother to Champion Sprinter Santa Ana Lane (Lope de Vega) is a colt by Lope de Vega, and he is the second foal of unraced mare Fleet of Foot (Toorak Toff) who is a half-sister to Santa Ana Lane.

“An imposing colt who fills the eye, a great loose moving horse who is bred on the same cross as champion Santa Ana Lane.”

Lot 251
Brazen Beau’s yearling filly is the second foal of winning Fastnet Rock mare Lady Cartier. Another filly with strong residual value, this filly’s dam is a three-quarter sister to Champion 3YO Filly Shoals (Fastnet Rock), and her third dam is the breed shaping Shantha’s Choice (dam of Redoute’s Choice, Platinum Scissors, Manhattan Rain, Sliding Cube and Echoes of Heaven). The two year-old older sister to this yearling trialled recently.

“A short coupled powerful filly with great strength through her body. From one of the most distinguished families in the Stud Book, she poses an exciting prospect with both pedigree and physical.”

Lot 340
A Deep Field half-brother to Shebringzit, who is a winner this season at four, after being a group placed winner at three, including fourth in the South Australian Derby-G1 behind Explosive Jack. Out of a young Not a Single Doubt mare, this yearling colt’s dam is a half-sister to G2 winner Silverstream, G3 winner Speedy Natalie (dam of Sweet and Speedy), and to Listed winner Calanda.

“A striking colt with great flashy markings, he will catch the eye on the sales ground. Flashy looks aside he is very strong and correct and moves with great purpose and by a sire who is commanding a great following both in Australia and overseas.”

Lot 348
The yearling that will have everyone talking about her is the I Am Invincible half-sister to boom sprinters Classique Legend and Aethero. Classique Legend, winner of The Everest as well as five other races including the Shorts-G2 was rated the Joint Head of the 2020 World Thoroughbred Rankings (Sprint), while Aethero won three races in succession as a two year-old before winning the Hong Kong Jockey Club Sprint-G2 and placing in the Hong Kong Sprint-G1 on International Day. To add to the impressive picture, this filly is only the fifth foal of her winning dam, who is also a full sister to Champion 3YO and five-time G1 winner Racing To Win (Encosta de Lago).

“A show stopping filly who combines steely good looks and a great athletic physique.  Her half-brothers have been sensational and this being the only female from the family to be offered for sale provides an extremely unique opportunity for buyers.”

Lot 389
A half-sister to this season’s stakes placed three year-old Decent Raine (Dissident) by Shamus Award, is out of Royal Raine, a young winning mare who is a half-sister to Newcastle Gold Cup-G3 winner Stratofortress, with plenty of other black type on the page for good measure.

“A tough filly with a very strong mind who loves her work.  A horse who moves with purpose and will attract many trainers’ eyes.”

Lot 437
A three-quarter sister to multiple G1 winning sprinter Sunlight (Zoustar), this Zoustar filly is the second foal of Sous La Terre (Pierro), a half-sister to Sunlight’s G3 winning dam Solar Charged. Zoustar crossed with this family has produced Sunlight, her G3 winning full sister Sisstar, and this season’s stakes placed two year-old Dio.

“A very mature, balanced filly who looks ready to race. She has a great action which leads us to believe she has all it takes to add to her already illustrious pedigree.”

Lot 467
The Pierro half-sister to G3 winner Steinem (Frankel) from winning mare Thai Noon (Dansili). Trained by the Maher/Eustace partnership, Steinem won her first two starts as a three year-old. At four, this season to date, Steinem won the Summoned Stakes-G3. The second dam of this yearling filly is a Listed winner, as is her third dam, while her fourth dam is the French Champion 2YO Filly and G1 winner Miss Tahiti, dam of G1 winner Miss France (Dansili).

“An athletic filly who is very light on her feet, she moves very sweetly and brings a very European influence to the mix, all this combined, she is an exciting prospect.”

This would have to be one of our best physical and pedigreed draft so far and we are so excited to bring them to the market.

The 2022 Tyreel Stud Inglis Easter Yearling Sale draft is the culmination of many years of fine tuning, combining physical attributes and successful pedigrees. This is one of the most balanced drafts presented of individual athletes produced at Tyreel Stud and buyers of all tastes should find something to suit their needs.
